Phitopolis and Philippines

Paul White, President and CTO and Ashar Mahboob, CIO were in Manila to kick off an engagement with Phitopolis, a technology Research and Development firm based in the Philippines.  Phitopolis will be working on a number of technology development, data and quantitative research projects for Quantbot.

Ashar, Quantbot’s resident diving expert, took advantage of the trip to get some of the team on their first scuba diving experience which was truly amazing.

NOLA Offsite

This past weekend, our global partners team at Quantbot flew in to meet at the one place that offers the best culture, food, and drinks, New Orleans.

Quantbot partners from New York, London and Hong Kong met in New Orleans for an annual business review. Paul White, the firm’s President and CTO, walked the team through recent performance and longer term plans. The partners spent many hours discussing strategic plans for the coming years, as always no topic was off the table and plenty of great ideas came up.

An offsite meeting isn’t complete without delicious meals and drinks!

Spin it to Win it

Last night, our Quantbot interns headed to Spin to attend Schonfeld’s Farewell Intern Event. With internship projects slowly wrapping up, it was a great opportunity for our interns to hang out and engage in friendly ping-pong competition with interns from Schonfeld and other quant groups before they all head back to their respective campuses this month. There was an informal tournament, and one of our interns was on the winning team! It was a fun night and we thank Schonfeld for inviting us.

Another Year, Another Night of Sake

It’s June, and as per Quantbot tradition, we found ourselves at the annual Joy of Sake event last week! Along with excellent food from local NYC restaurants, there was the usual overwhelming choice of sakes to try. We had a great turnout from our office this year and had a blast trying out the food samples and sakes on offer. Needless to say we’re already looking forward to next year!

Quantbot and the Squash

Last Wednesday the company (interns included!) rolled into the Princeton Club in NYC for spirited games of squash and ping pong. Bouncing between racket, paddle and plates of food we had fun learning how to play squash, and watching the more competitive of us challenge each other to games. After a brief intro lesson to squash, we got into the swing of things and played games with gusto. Our interns took this chance to play and chat with others in the company, and even got some points against our more experienced players! All of us had a ball and we’re ready to have another whack at it soon!

Quantbot Summer Interns

The start of summer and the warmer weather brings a new batch of summer interns at Quantbot! With most of our interns having started, they and us were invited to a welcome reception hosted by Schonfeld Strategic Advisors at Chelsea Piers this past Tuesday. This was a great opportunity for our interns to meet and chat with each other and meet some of the Schonfeld interns as well. We’re all looking forward to a fun and productive summer season!

Quantbot Sponsored Finance Research Projects at MIT

On March 13, 2019, Quantbot Technologies was represented at MIT’s Finance Research Practicum final presentation session at the MIT campus in Boston. As sponsors of the prestigious practicum this year, two of our employees mentored two separate groups of interns in their research projects through the first two months of 2019. One group focused on Fundamentals Nowcasting and the other worked on an Analysis of Commitments of Traders Reports for Commodities and Financial Futures. While in Boston we had an opportunity to not only see the results of the projects we participated in, but see and learn about every other research project as well. From Machine Learning techniques to ESG analysis, the students tackled interesting and varied research projects for the practicum, and we are excited to have been a  sponsor this year.
