Quantbot ran its first long-awaited JPM Corporate Challenge! On June 1, 12 of our employees laced up their running shoes and took to the trails of Central Park to join the thousands of runners, joggers, and walkers participating in the 5k. The weather and the vibes were great even when we fought our way through the Harlem hills! We can’t wait to run it again and set some new PRs next year!
What do cocktails, lobsters, and speeches all have in common? That’s right, they were all at Quantbot’s annual company dinner! Hosted this year at Milos Estiatorio, the Quantbot NY office and our summer intern cohort celebrated another successful and productive year at Quantbot. Over courses of delicious Greek delights, we toasted many highlights from the year so far, including moving to our new NYC office, opening one in Miami, and welcoming the largest intern class we’ve ever had. Cheers to fourteen years and counting!
That’s right, Quantbot has moved to a new office space! When just a short time ago we were playing musical desks in an office that couldn’t grow in tandem with our hiring rate, now we have a bright new space that can not only fit all of us (including our many summer interns), but provides plenty of room for future joiners. Overlooking the NYPL and Bryant Park in the heart of Midtown, the new Quantbot headquarters are spacious and comfortable. We even have an outdoor patio for sipping post-work drinks on sunny summer afternoons!
Back on April 14, Quantbot Technologies, along with Schonfeld Strategic Advisors and Code Willing, had the pleasure of hosting a PhD-focused Datathon, featuring participating students from across the United States. The event started with presentations from the three data vendors that freely provided their data for the Datathon: Estimize, Wall Street Horizon, and RedGraphs. Each team was then given 3 hours to run backtests, using the data provided by the vendors, to generate alpha and develop an out-of-sample strategy.
Each team was provided with a senior mentor. Two of Quantbot’s researchers, Keywan and Zihao, each mentored a team where they dispensed expert advice on how the students should build and tweak their strategies. The most successful strategy across several parameters was deemed the winner. Congratulations to CWIQ team Sim for your win!
On September 28, the Quantbot Technologies team was in San Francisco for the September Neudata Data Summit. The conference had over 400 people in attendance with over 60 speakers discussing the latest advancements in the cryptocurrency space and how blockchain technologies are enabling adoption for institutional investors.
Paul White, Quantbot’s CEO, was given the opportunity to participate during the Neudata event. Once during the “Panel: Navigating Turbulence in Crypto Markets”, where Paul and two other panelists “[e]xplore[d] how DeFi has challenged many aspects of traditional capital markets and discover how it can create alpha returns”.
Paul was able to also participate as a judge in a Shark Tank-like event during the conference. During this event, “four new data providers pitch[ed] their data proposition for established data providers” with one being declared “best in their class”.
You can find the programme with the list of speakers here .
In May, we were grateful to once again meet for the annual Quantbot company dinner. With good food, good drinks, and good company; what more could we ask for? It was a great night for everyone, and we are looking forward to another year at Quantbot Technologies!
Like so many others across the world, we here at Quantbot Technologies are devastated by the war in Ukraine.
As a way for us to show our support to those directly impacted, we have made a donation to The $1k Project Ukraine. The project’s mission is to “enable direct relief for the families impacted by the war in Ukraine. [And] aim[s] to empower families in United States and around the world to directly send money to families on the ground in Ukraine.”.
On November 9th, several of our team members had a ball attending the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s annual event “Women with Balls”- a bowling fundraiser for breast cancer research. Our team, the Quant Queens and Kings, raised over $4000 for this awesome organization. We are looking forward to participating and raising even more money for the NBCC next year.
Thank you to the National Breast Cancer Coalition for hosting this fun event!
Last week, Quantbot’s CEO and co-founder, Paul White, had the opportunity to speak at Neudata’s biggest quarterly event yet: Data Insights & Scouting Summit-Autumn Edition.
